Operated by bpTT since 1972 at Guayaguayare on Trinidad's south-east tip, the facility processes all hydrocarbon liquids from the company's fifteen offshore platforms plus third-party producers, blending condensate from the Beachfield gas plant with crude from the platforms and holding it in five storage tanks. Export loading takes place offshore at two single buoy moorings on an open roadstead: the BP Amoco SBM handles tankers up to 250,000 dwt and 27 m draught, while the Calypso SBM accepts up to 150,000 dwt. There are no container, breakbulk or general-cargo facilities and no customs gateway for conventional freight. Forwarders moving containers or general cargo to Trinidad should use Port of Spain or the industrial port of Point Lisas. Galeota Point is best understood as crude-oil infrastructure rather than a port for shipper consignments.
