About This Seaport
On Norway's south coast where the Skagerrak meets the North Sea, Farsund (NO FAN) operates mainly as an industrial port for the local aluminium industry. The Alcoa Lista smelter and Farsund Aluminium Casting drive its traffic, and since 2007 an ASCO logistics base has provided stevedoring and storage, with aluminium and general cargo moving on a weekly liner service to Rotterdam and Immingham. Two 130 m berths offer 6.5 m and 12.6 m alongside, backed by a RoRo quay rated to 350 tonnes, around 100,000 m² of laydown area, and a warehouse opened in 2017. The port is not set up for scheduled container or deep-sea services, so boxes route via Kristiansand or onward through Rotterdam. For project, RoRo and industrial cargo in southern Norway, however, Farsund is a well-established option.
