Metals, timber, reefer goods, vehicles and project cargo all cross the quays of Magadan, the lifeline port for Russia's Kolyma region on the Sea of Okhotsk. Founded in 1933 to supply the Kolyma goldfields, it today operates around 13 berths — two dedicated to containers, three to oil products and eight to general and dry cargo.
