About This Seaport
Few people outside the trade realise that the busiest automobile port in the United States is not a big-city container gateway but Brunswick, Georgia. In 2025 its Colonel's Island Terminal handled 779,000 vehicles plus more than 53,000 units of heavy machinery — the nation's top auto port for the second straight year and one of the country's leading roll-on/roll-off facilities. Operated by the Georgia Ports Authority, the terminal offers three deep-water RoRo berths (a fourth under construction), nine steamship lines and four on-terminal auto processors across roughly 1,700 acres. An adjacent agribulk facility and the Mayor's Point terminal add dry bulk, forest products and breakbulk to the mix. Containerised cargo, however, is handled at nearby Savannah, not here. For cars, trucks, tractors and other rolling or high-and-heavy freight on the U.S. East Coast, Brunswick is a first-tier option.
