Dredging and pier-extension works launched in May 2026 have restored Porto di Barletta's basin to its original 8-metre depth, now allowing vessels of up to 10,000 tonnes deadweight to call at this Adriatic port on Italy's Puglia coast. Barletta does not offer regular container handling; shippers needing container capacity typically use the larger neighbouring ports of Bari or Brindisi. Customs clearance runs through Italy's Agenzia delle Dogane at the port terminal.
