For cargo, the road beats the runway at Ken Jones: the airport near Port Antonio in eastern Jamaica handles domestic and charter flights but no scheduled freight. It opens up the Portland tourism region, known for its beaches and the Blue Mountain hinterland. With no cargo terminal or handling on site, goods consignments route overland to Norman Manley International (KIN) at Kingston. For forwarders, POT serves at most as a regional starting point for road transport along the east coast.
