Opened in December 2002 specifically to fly tourists into the keys, Jardines del Rey Airport (IATA: CCC, ICAO: MUCC) on Cayo Coco in Cuba's Ciego de Ávila province has never taken on a freight role. It handles well over 200,000 passengers a year, almost all foreign holidaymakers and predominantly Canadians. As of March 2026 Air Canada, Air Transat and WestJet flew seasonally from Montreal, Toronto, Halifax and Quebec City, while Nordwind from Moscow Sheremetyevo was the only non-stop link to Europe. There is no cargo terminal, no scheduled freighter service and no standalone customs clearance for commercial goods; hotel supplies for Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo arrive by truck over the roughly 17-kilometre Pedraplén causeway from the mainland. Air freight into Cuba moves through José Martí International in Havana (HAV), about 500 kilometres west, with container traffic concentrated at the port of Mariel. For shippers, CCC is a seasonal leisure field rather than a loading point.
