DEZ Airport (Deir ez-Zor Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

No scheduled aircraft touched down here for fourteen years: on 2 August 2026 Deir ez-Zor Airport (IATA: DEZ, ICAO: OSDZ) in eastern Syria resumed operations, after rehabilitation works begun in early 2026 were completed in May. Syrian Airlines opened the traffic on 3 August 2026 with two weekly rotations each to Damascus and Kuwait City, and Jazeera Airways added a twice-weekly service on 8 August 2026. The reopening follows the step-by-step revival of Syrian aviation that began at Damascus in December 2024 and Aleppo in March 2025. Commercial cargo activity at Deir ez-Zor is not confirmed: there is no documented freighter rotation, cargo terminal, bonded warehouse or cold chain, and capacity is limited to the belly holds of a handful of passenger flights. Consignments for the governorate therefore still move via Damascus International (DAM) and overland along the Euphrates, while Beirut (BEY) and Amman Queen Alia (AMM) remain the usual international air-freight alternatives with onward trucking. Anyone planning shipments into eastern Syria should re-check the operating status before each booking, since frequencies and customs practice remain volatile during reconstruction.
