Burao (Burco) airfield in the Togdheer region of northern Somalia serves regional light aircraft and occasional charter and relief flights; there is no cargo terminal, no commercial handling and no customs office. For merchandise the strip is of no relevance. The meaningful gateways in the region are Hargeisa Egal International (HGA) and Berbera (BBO), whose airport and deep-water port have been upgraded in recent years and form the main goods entry point for the area.
