BEG Airport (Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Vinci Airports has run Belgrade Nikola Tesla (IATA: BEG, ICAO: LYBE) since 2018 under a 25-year concession, with Menzies Aviation handling cargo on the ground since 2024 — yet the fact that shapes all freight planning here is simpler: Serbia is not an EU member, so every shipment needs full customs clearance. The Western Balkans' largest airport, near Surčin some 18 kilometres west of the centre, carried about 8.9 million passengers in 2025, up 6.5 percent, on 89,480 movements. Home carrier Air Serbia is the only airline in the region flying long-haul — to New York and Chicago as well as China, with Toronto next on the plan; its belly capacity plus express traffic forms the backbone of cargo, processed in a dedicated freight terminal. Volumes remain modest but grow with Serbia's industrialisation: Chinese investors, from steel to tyres, generate steady Far East traffic. With that long-haul reach, BEG also acts as the hub for the whole former Yugoslavia. Road access runs via the E70/E75 motorways linking Belgrade with Zagreb, Budapest and Skopje. The practical rule for forwarders: anyone serving Serbia, Montenegro or Bosnia can hardly bypass Belgrade and its customs expertise — the alternative is road feeder via Budapest.
