Long a military field, the airfield at Alexeni in Romania's Ialomița county now sees only sporadic use. There are no scheduled flights, no cargo handling and no customs office, so it plays no part in air freight movements. The region is served by Bucharest Otopeni (OTP), about 60 kilometres west, where Romania's cargo terminals and customs clearance are concentrated.
