LATAM Cargo Chile is the market-facing name of Lan Cargo S.A., a closed joint stock company under Chilean law based in Santiago de Chile. LATAM Airlines Group S.A. holds 99.898 percent of the company, which is one of three cargo operators within the group. The other two are LATAM Cargo Brasil (ABSA Aerolinhas Brasileiras S.A.) and LATAM Cargo Colombia (formerly Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia). The LATAM Cargo brand appears uniformly in the market, but the air operator certificate behind Chilean freighter flights is held by Lan Cargo S.A. Legally the company traces back to Compañía de Transportes Aéreos Cobre Limitada (Ladeco), incorporated on 3 September 1958. It was renamed Lan Chile Cargo S.A. in 2001 and has carried the name Lan Cargo S.A. since 23 August 2004. When LAN and TAM merged to form LATAM Airlines Group, the commercial identity was changed to LATAM Cargo in 2016. The operating model combines dedicated freighters with belly capacity on the group's passenger carriers. The three cargo subsidiaries together operate 20 Boeing 767 freighters (as of June 2026); the group does not break this figure down by company. Santiago de Chile (SCL) is the home base and main hub, with Miami (MIA) serving as the second hub for North American traffic. Within the group network, Viracopos/Campinas (VCP) and Bogotá (BOG) are added. For forwarders: IATA designator UC, ICAO code LCO, AWB prefix 145. The traffic mix centres on perishables such as salmon, cherries and cut flowers, plus temperature-controlled pharmaceutical freight; LATAM Cargo holds IATA CEIV Pharma certification for that segment.
