Delta Cargo is the freight division of Delta Air Lines, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The company traces back to Huff Daland Dusters, founded in 1925, and has carried the Delta name since 1928. Delta Cargo is not a separate legal airline but markets the belly capacity of its parent's passenger fleet. Delta operates no dedicated freighters: according to the carrier, cargo acceptance relies exclusively on widebody and narrowbody aircraft as well as Delta Connection equipment. Delta and Delta Connection fly up to 5,500 flights a day to more than 300 destinations on six continents according to company figures; Delta Cargo states that it moves more than eleven million pieces a year. The largest hub is Atlanta (ATL), which Delta describes as the world's largest airline hub. The company also names Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York-JFK and LaGuardia, Salt Lake City and Seattle among its hubs and key markets. Delta is a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance and is part of SkyTeam Cargo; on the freight side it holds joint ventures with Air France-KLM Cargo, Virgin Atlantic Cargo, Aeromexico Cargo and LATAM Cargo, and cooperates with Korean Air Cargo. For forwarders: the IATA code is DL, the ICAO designator DAL, and the AWB prefix is 006. Air waybills run to eleven digits as 006-XXXXXXXX, the eight-digit number consisting of a seven-digit serial plus a MOD-7 check digit. The product range runs from Standard and General through the express tiers Express, DASH, DASH Critical and Critical to the specialty products Specialized Pharma, Specialized Fresh, Specialized Live, Specialized Care and Specialized Safe as well as Pets. In pharma, Delta Cargo offers four temperature tiers and states that it was the first US global passenger carrier to receive IATA CEIV Pharma certification.
