Austrian Airlines Cargo is the cargo arm of Austrian Airlines AG, the Austrian network carrier headquartered at Office Park 2 at Vienna-Schwechat Airport. The company is entered in the commercial register of the Vienna Commercial Court under FN 111 000k. Its sole shareholder is ÖLH Österreichische Luftverkehrs-Holding-GmbH, which is attributable at 49.8 percent to Deutsche Lufthansa AG via ÖLB Österreichische Luftverkehrs-Beteiligungs-GmbH. Austrian Airlines is therefore part of the Lufthansa Group and a member of Star Alliance. Operating model: Austrian Airlines does not operate freighters of its own. Cargo travels exclusively in the belly holds of its passenger aircraft. The international freight capacities are fully marketed by Lufthansa Cargo AG and are integrated into its overall capacity offering. Booking, rating and shipment tracking therefore run through Lufthansa Cargo systems rather than a dedicated Austrian cargo platform. Fleet as of December 2025: seven Boeing 777-200ER and three Boeing 767-300ER on long-haul routes, plus Boeing 787-9 aircraft, an Airbus A320 family fleet and 17 Embraer 195 that will be phased out by the end of 2028. Six additional Airbus A320neo will bring the Airbus fleet to 46 units; the long-haul fleet grows to twelve Boeing 787-9 by the end of 2028. Network: the hub is Vienna (VIE), from where Austrian Airlines serves more than 120 destinations with a pronounced focus on Central and Eastern Europe. Vienna is one of the five Lufthansa Cargo freight hubs alongside Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels and Rome and also acts as the starting point of a dense road feeder network into the CEE region. Codes: IATA designator OS, ICAO designator AUA. The AWB prefix is deliberately left blank because sources disagree: directories quote 257, whereas the industry system Traxon cargoHUB lists Austrian Airlines under 020, the Lufthansa Cargo prefix. Forwarders should confirm the applicable prefix with the sales office before issuing the air waybill.
