Customs clearance is the process by which goods are officially authorized to cross a border: the freight forwarder or customs broker submits a complete file to the relevant customs authority (invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, any required licenses), declares the goods' value and classification, and pays applicable duties and import taxes.
