Before a shipment leaves the warehouse or is picked up by a carrier, it undergoes shipment release control: the warehouse operative or shipping clerk verifies picking accuracy (are all items correctly packed?), documentation (dispatch note, customs declaration, invoice), labeling (address, barcode, hazmat markings), and packaging condition.
