SCM data harmonization is the process of aligning heterogeneous datasets from disparate supply chain systems into a common format and shared semantic structure. Freight forwarders, warehouse operators, manufacturers, and customs authorities each capture shipment details, inventory, and cargo movements in their own ERP, WMS, or customs platforms—often with incompatible coding schemes, timestamps, and field definitions. Without harmonization, duplicates accumulate, track-and-trace chains break, and customs declarations contain avoidable errors. Standard measures include unifying product identifiers (such as GTIN or HS codes), date formats, and shipment references, as well as deploying middleware or EDI standards like EDIFACT. Only harmonized data enables reliable supply chain analytics, automated customs processing, and cross-system visibility.
