Over-short-damaged (OSD) freight claims address three distinct discrepancy types that can occur on delivery: cargo received in excess of the documented quantity, cargo received short, or cargo received with physical damage. Unlike a simple exception note at goods receipt, a formal OSD claim is a structured process – backed by photographs, scale tickets, and bill-of-lading copies – through which shippers, forwarders, or consignees pursue compensation from carriers or underwriters.
