When a consignment enters or transits Kazakhstan, standardised clearance procedures come into effect, carried out jointly by customs and transport authorities: freight documents are checked for completeness and accuracy, cargo is scanned selectively or in full depending on risk classification, and hazardous goods as well as restricted commodities are subject to additional checks.
