Freight forwarders and marine insurance brokers turn to Institute Cargo Clauses C when covering standard goods at modest values where premium cost is the primary constraint. ICC C is the most restrictive of the three Institute Cargo tiers (A, B, C): only a closed list of named perils is covered—fire, explosion, stranding, grounding, capsizing, collision, and general average sacrifice. Any peril not expressly listed is excluded; spoilage, theft, mishandling, and delay fall entirely outside the policy. For bulk commodities, durable industrial goods, or routine supply-chain flows, ICC C is cost-justified. For fragile, high-value, or perishable cargo, ICC A's all-risks basis is the appropriate choice.
