The waybill is the foundational transport document for cross-border shipments, recording the shipper, consignee, routing, commodity description, weight, and carriage conditions. Depending on the mode of transport, it takes the form of an Air Waybill (AWB) in air freight, a CMR consignment note in road transport, or a CIM consignment note in rail. It serves as evidence of the transport contract but—unlike a Bill of Lading—is non-negotiable and conveys no title to the goods.
