Unlike standard air freight, the service relies on dedicated handling slots, prioritized customs processing, and overnight connections to keep shipments moving without interruption. It is the default choice for pharmaceuticals, spare parts, electronics, and perishables where delivery windows are contractually binding. Major integrators operate dedicated freighter fleets and hub sorting facilities specifically for this segment. Express air cargo should not be confused with priority cargo upgrades, which offer preferential loading but stop short of guaranteeing end-to-end transit times.
