e-dec Web is the free web application of the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) that lets users enter and submit import customs declarations for commercial goods directly over the internet, without their own customs software. It is aimed primarily at private individuals and at companies or shippers that import only occasionally. e-dec Web has been in operation since early 2012 and replaced the paper Single Administrative Document (form 11.010) for the definitive import of commercial goods; since 1 January 2013 an electronic filing obligation generally applies to such import declarations. Key features: guided data entry with help texts, validation and plausibility checks, locally storable templates, declaration of provisional as well as quota/managed goods, and compatibility with the EU security amendments. High-volume professional declarants (forwarders, hauliers, customs agents) instead submit their declarations through certified software via an interface, not through e-dec Web. Context: e-dec Web is the web front end to the e-dec system and is being superseded by the new Passar goods-traffic system under Switzerland's customs digitalisation programme DaziT. The Declar web application is the successor to e-dec Web and is planned to replace it by the end of Q3 2027 (the exact date will be communicated later – planning status, subject to change). Not to be confused with e-dec Export (the export part of e-dec) or with the assessment decision (eVV), which is only issued after the declaration as legal proof.
