Distinct from automated system checks, a customs relevance check procedure is the documented, traceable process by which a freight forwarder or customs broker evaluates commodity description, tariff classification, declared value, country of origin, and intended destination to determine whether customs declaration and clearance are mandatory or exemptions apply.
