Your shipment arrives at a port or border and customs wants to inspect it. With the customs inspection notification, the freight forwarder or importer formally notifies the customs authority that goods are ready for physical or documentary examination. This may result from risk profiling, official suspicion, or routine screening. The notification provides necessary documents (invoices, packing lists, customs declarations) and initiates the compliance verification process. Only after successful inspection is the shipment released.
