Französisches Pazifik-Überseegebiet / importabhängige Inselökonomie
Capitale: Mata-Utu
Panoramica
Wallis and Futuna (ISO code: WF) lies in the southwestern Pacific between Fiji and Samoa and consists of the island groups of Wallis and of Futuna and Alofi. Politically it is a French overseas collectivity with a special autonomy status and close administrative ties to France; it is associated with the EU as an Overseas Country and Territory but is outside the EU customs and VAT area. The climate is tropical with year-round high temperatures, high humidity and a pronounced rainy season. The economy is small, shaped by public administration, subsistence activity and financial transfers from France, with very high import dependence for food, fuel, consumer goods and building materials. Logistics infrastructure is limited and centres on the ports of Mata-Utu (Wallis) and Leava (Futuna) plus air links to regional Pacific hubs. There is little independent transit function, as the territory lies off the main international trade routes. The currency is the CFP franc (XPF), pegged to the euro.

CMA CGM, PDL).
