01Typical goods and risks
Examples: Ammunition, fireworks, explosives, pyrotechnics, airbag modules.
Risks: Risk of detonation or deflagration; mass-explosion possible. Six divisions (1.1–1.6).
Before every shipment, conduct a risk assessment for the specific packaging, loading and routing combination — especially for tunnels, ferry passages and transit countries with special regimes.
02ADR — road transport
ADR-Beförderungspapier, nur zugelassene Fahrzeuge, strenge Mengenlimits.
Required: transport document per 5.4.1 ADR, UN packaging codes, hazard labels and orange warning panel on the vehicle. Drivers need the ADR certificate (basic and, if applicable, specialisation courses).
03IMDG — sea freight
IMDG-Code, separate Stauung, ausschliesslich zugelassene Hafenterminals.
Notes such as "Stow away from living quarters" or the segregation group are defined in IMDG Code Part 7. Mandatory document: Dangerous Goods Declaration. Containers must be CSC-certified and stowed per the CTU Code.
04IATA — air freight
Luftfracht nur teilweise zulässig — die meisten Divisions sind Cargo Aircraft Only oder verboten.
IATA DGR is updated annually (currently 66th edition 2025). Operator variations (OV) of individual airlines are binding. Shipper's declaration is mandatory and often available electronically (eDG).
