Due diligence statement
Under the EU Deforestation Regulation, the due diligence statement (DDS) is the formal declaration by which an operator or trader confirms that it has carried out the required due diligence and found no or only negligible risk of non-compliance.

Under the EU Deforestation Regulation, the due diligence statement (DDS) is the formal declaration by which an operator or trader confirms that it has carried out the required due diligence and found no or only negligible risk of non-compliance. It is submitted through the EUDR Information System before the goods are placed on the market or exported, and contains the customs tariff code, the quantity, the country of production and the geolocation coordinates of the plots of land concerned. The system issues a reference number and a verification number for each statement. Downstream parties in the supply chain pass these numbers on, and customs and enforcement authorities use them to decide whether a consignment may be released. By submitting the statement, the declarant assumes responsibility for the product's compliance with the regulation.
