Swiss Supply is history. The organization was dissolved as of April 30, 2026. This is communicated briefly and soberly on the association's website. A detailed explanation of what comes next is not provided there.
Swiss Supply was founded in 2021 as an umbrella organization for supply, logistics, and transport. The idea was indeed sensible. The Swiss supply chain world is widely distributed. Purchasing, transport, forwarding, warehousing, standards, training, and industry are closely interlinked in everyday operations. Nevertheless, they are often organized in different associations.
Swiss Supply apparently aimed to provide a common framework right here. Founding members included ASFL SVBL, ASTAG, GS1 Switzerland, procure.ch, and SPEDLOGSWISS. These are actually the organizations that already cover many important sectors of the industry.
The reasons why the organization was not continued are not extensively explained on the official website. The industry portal Logistik Online reported in March 2026 that the board had decided to dissolve the organization because the defined goals could not be achieved in their current form, and no sustainable added value was provided anymore.
For the industry, this is not an earthquake, but a signal. Switzerland is thus not losing a major operational organization, but a possible overarching voice. Issues such as skilled labor shortages, digitalization, data standards, sustainability, customs processes, and supply security affect not only individual carriers or professional groups but the entire supply chain.
The question, therefore, is: Does a gap now emerge, or will the work simply be carried out more strongly by the existing associations?
ASTAG remains the strong voice of road transport and the transport industry. According to its own statements, the association represents about 3,700 members and partners, as well as approximately 30,000 vehicles. SPEDLOGSWISS is the central organization for internationally active forwarding and logistics companies. The association advocates for suitable framework conditions in the industry.
In addition, GS1 Switzerland is involved in standards, goods flows, data, and processes, while procure.ch focuses on purchasing and supply management. GS1 Switzerland describes its role as supporting optimized flow of goods, information, and values. procure.ch positions itself as a national professional association for purchasing and supply management.
It is likely that there will not be an easy successor. Rather, the topics will again land where they are most closely linked professionally. Road transport at ASTAG. Forwarding and international logistics at SPEDLOGSWISS. Standards and data at GS1 Switzerland. Purchasing and procurement at procure.ch. Training and warehouse logistics at ASFL SVBL.
This can work. However, it may also mean that the supply chain as a whole becomes less visible. This is exactly where the opportunity lies for other associations. Those that succeed in speaking beyond their industry may gain significance. Because the major questions of the coming years are not neatly separated into association categories.
Customs reforms, Passar, CO2 regulations, digitalization, skilled workers, resilience, e-commerce, and geopolitical risks affect everyone. The Swiss economy does not need a complicated new umbrella structure at all costs for this. But it needs coordination, common positions, and understandable communication outward.
Swiss Supply is dissolved. The supply chain issues remain.
