CMA CGM has completed the acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain. The agreed enterprise value is 1.4 billion US dollars. With this, the purchase announced in July 2026 is no longer just agreed upon, but executed.
FedEx Supply Chain will be integrated into logistics subsidiary CEVA Logistics. Nearly 10,000 employees and approximately 34 million square feet of warehouse space come with it. This corresponds to about 3.16 million square meters. The combined North American contract logistics business will then operate around 150 warehouses. CEVA has a total of more than 240 locations in North America and approximately 20,000 employees.
Contract logistics means that a service provider assumes storage, order picking, packaging, returns, and other operations for a customer on a long-term basis. For CMA CGM, this acquisition is therefore much more than a pure warehousing business. The group can offer ocean freight, air freight, land transport, and warehouse logistics more comprehensively from a single source.
FedEx and CMA CGM have also concluded multi-year agreements for ocean and air freight. CMA CGM will be a preferred, but non-exclusive ocean freight provider for FedEx. In air freight, both companies want to collaborate on major routes, including Asia-Europe.
For customers, this can provide simpler integrated solutions. At the same time, consolidation in the market is increasing. Those who procure transport and warehousing from one group should still compare prices, service levels, and alternatives separately. Especially in case of disruptions, it is important not to be completely dependent on a single network.
