Coral-fishing boats, day-trip vessels and a 100-berth leisure marina share the breakwater at Tabarka (TN TBJ), a resort town in north-western Tunisia close to the Algerian border. In commercial terms this is a fishing and pleasure harbour rather than a freight port: the Port de Plaisance marina takes craft up to 25 m, while the fishing fleet lands its catch nearby. There are no commercial cargo terminals and no routine customs clearance for liner freight, so containers, breakbulk and bulk have no facilities here. The hinterland in the Jendouba region is reached by road. Forwarders moving containers or bulk rely on the Tunisian ports of Bizerte and Radès (Tunis), the latter being the country's main container gateway.
