About This Seaport
ENEOS, Cosmo Oil and Osaka Gas all run berths at Sakai-Senboku, an industrial and energy port on Osaka Bay that forms part of Hanshin Port together with Osaka and Kobe. Spanning the cities of Sakai, Takaishi and Izumiotsu, it handles roughly 73 million tonnes of cargo across about 39,000 vessel calls a year. As an energy gateway it takes in crude oil, LNG and LPG, alongside iron and steel, chemicals, grain, fertilizers and timber. Sakai-Senboku is also one of Japan's used-car export bases, and in 2024 its operators promoted the port in Malaysia to widen markets beyond New Zealand and Oceania. The port pioneered LNG ship bunkering in Osaka Bay through an LNG-fuelled tugboat developed with Osaka Gas. Its hinterland reaches the densely populated Kansai region by a tight road and rail network, while pure container line services run largely through the neighbouring Osaka and Kobe terminals.
