About This Seaport
Unlike Ireland's deepsea container gateways, Rosslare Europort (UN/LOCODE IE ROE) in County Wexford is built around rolling freight rather than boxes. The port handles more than 90 RoRo calls a week and around three dozen weekly direct sailings to the European mainland, covering accompanied and unaccompanied trailers plus LoLo Mafi operations, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Ferry routes serve Fishguard and Pembroke in Wales and Cherbourg, Roscoff and Dunkirk on the Continent, operated by Stena Line, Irish Ferries, Brittany Ferries and DFDS. Direct Ireland-to-Continent traffic has grown sharply since Brexit, as forwarders bypass the British land bridge and its customs formalities. Reloading warehouses at and near the terminal offer stuffing, stripping and onward inland transport. For deepsea containerised cargo, Dublin or Cork (Ringaskiddy) are the more suitable options. Channel depths of just over 7 metres keep the port focused on RoRo and ferry tonnage.
