About This Seaport
First given a government wharf in 1912, Port Clements grew into a supply centre for the logging camps around Masset Inlet on Haida Gwaii before declining to about 340 residents. Today a small-craft harbour with transient moorage, power and a launch ramp serves fishing and local traffic rather than container or liner cargo. Forestry remains part of the local economy, but commercial sea freight for the islands routes through Prince Rupert on the mainland and onward by barge to Sandspit or Masset. For forwarders, Port Clements carries minor freight relevance.
