About This Seaport
Refined petroleum products and biofuels define cargo work at Pauillac, a private tanker berth on the left bank of the Gironde estuary about 50 km downstream of Bordeaux. Operated by CIM-CCMP, the site stores up to 396,000 m³ of diesel, heating oil, FAME biodiesel and HVO and ships roughly 710,000 tonnes a year, with the jetty taking tankers up to about 35,000 dwt. A second, unusual role is breakbulk: oversized Airbus fuselage and wing sections arrive by sea-going ship and are transferred to river barges at Pauillac for onward movement toward the Toulouse assembly line. The terminal is linked inland by the TRAPIL pipeline network, road and Garonne barge traffic, but it handles no containers or general cargo. Shippers with boxes, dry bulk or mixed line cargo should route via the nearby Bordeaux port basins at Bassens or the container quay at Le Verdon. For liquid energy parcels and project or heavy-lift consignments, however, Pauillac is a purpose-built option.
