About This Seaport
Around 30 million tonnes of cargo cross Hachinohe Ko's 48 berths each year, making this Aomori Prefecture port on the Pacific coast of northern Honshu one of Japan's most productive per-berth seaports and a rare combination of major fishery and industrial terminal. Channel depth reaches 14 metres, pier depth 12.5 metres and maximum LOA 230 metres; the handling mix runs from inbound grain, cement and woodchip to outbound ferro-nickel and steel products. CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, PIL and FESCO operate container services to Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Australia, the Americas and Europe. The port also serves regular ferry connections to Tomakomai (Hokkaido) and occasional cruise calls. As Tohoku's principal distribution hub, Hachinohe connects its agricultural and industrial hinterland via a strong road network. For larger volumes: Sendai-Shiogama or the Keihin ports of Tokyo/Yokohama.
