About This Seaport
Once reputedly the British Empire's largest sawmill and the second largest in the world, Fraser Mills on the Fraser River near Coquitlam is today a very different place. From 1890 its lumber moved out by river barge and rail, and the channel was dredged in 1903 to keep ships loading. The site has since largely been redeveloped for urban use, and there is no confirmed scheduled-cargo, container or customs role for forwarders here. Freight in the Greater Vancouver area is handled instead at Fraser Surrey Docks and the terminals of the Port of Vancouver.
