About This Seaport
Two cross-country pipelines define Finnart Oil Terminal: a 20-inch line carrying imported crude oil eastward to the Grangemouth refinery and a 12-inch line returning refined products for export. Sitting on the eastern shore of Loch Long in western Scotland, the deep-water berth handles crude tankers of up to around 324,000 tonnes thanks to a channel depth of 23.2 metres. This is a pure energy terminal: it processes crude and petroleum products only, with no container, breakbulk or general-cargo facilities. Following Petroineos's closure of the Grangemouth refinery in 2025, Finnart is itself earmarked for closure, which sharply reduces its forward freight relevance. Forwarders moving petroleum products should look to Grangemouth directly or to the Clyde terminals near Greenock. Containerised and general cargo for the region routes through Greenock (Clydeport).
