About This Seaport
Britain's largest ship-repair complex sits inside Falmouth Harbour, where A&P Falmouth operates three graving docks for vessels up to around 100,000 tonnes. This broad natural harbour on the south-west tip of Cornwall opens onto the English Channel and offers deep, sheltered water. Its commercial weight lies in ship repair, deep-water bunkering and vessel supply rather than line cargo: Falmouth Bay is the only UK bunker anchorage outside the Northern European SECA sulphur zone. The port handles over 100,000 tonnes of cargo a year, chiefly dry bulk and breakbulk, but no container services. Named SME Port of the Year 2025 by the British Ports Association, Falmouth set a cruise record with 42 calls in 2025, rising to up to 50 in 2026, and is developing 30,000 m² of dockside space as a marshalling base for floating offshore wind projects in the Celtic Sea. Rail and the A39/A30 link the hinterland, though Falmouth sits well away from England's main logistics corridors. For containers, Southampton or Felixstowe are the right alternatives; for general cargo, Plymouth is closer.
