Sardine boats, gulls and tour-boat crews fill the quays of Essaouira (MA ESS); commercial freight does not. Known historically as Mogador, the port today works as a fishing and tourism harbour rather than a cargo gateway, with roughly 500 metres of quay built for small craft. It offers no container, reefer, RoRo or routine commercial customs handling, so its freight relevance is limited. Forwarders moving goods to this part of Morocco should use Agadir to the south or Casablanca and Jorf Lasfar to the north.
