Magma Aviation Limited is a British air cargo capacity provider with its registered office in Gatwick, West Sussex. The company was incorporated on 17 December 2009 and started operating in 2010. It belongs to the Chapman Freeborn Group and therefore to Avia Solutions Group. Magma Aviation is not an operator in the regulatory sense: it holds no air operator certificate of its own and carries neither an IATA nor an ICAO designator. According to its own description, it commercially manages wide-body freighter capacity contracted exclusively from third-party carriers. The company names Air Atlanta Icelandic, Atlas Air, ASL Airlines France, AirExplore and Air ACT as its flying partners. For the forwarder this means the air waybill always runs under the prefix of the operating carrier, never under Magma itself. The fleet consists of Boeing 747-400BCF and Boeing 747-400F aircraft. One 747 freighter is based at the cargo airport of Liege (LGG), another aircraft is deployed from Europe towards Africa and the Middle East (as of September 2026). The network focuses on Europe-Africa traffic; together with MidnightZulu, Magma serves Nairobi (NBO) - Liege on a scheduled basis, a route reinforced in January 2026 by an additional seasonal rotation for the Kenyan flower export season. Products are long-term flying programmes, part and full charters, ad-hoc charters and block space agreements. Sales run through own offices in Gatwick, Dublin and Dubai and through a GSA network including Chapman Freeborn in Frankfurt and Shanghai, Euro Cargo Aviation in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, and HAE Group in the United States. Magma operates no shipment tracking of its own; status information is obtained from the operating carrier or the responsible GSA.
