Fleet & capacity

The fleet data come from the cargo section of the airline's website, as retrieved on 17 September 2026. That section names Airbus A320-200, Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 777, whereas the corporate profile on the same website lists Airbus A320neo, A321, A330-800neo, A330-900 and Boeing 777-300ER. Because of this contradiction no aircraft counts were adopted.

Kuwait Airways Cargo is the freight division of Kuwait Airways Corporation, the state-owned airline of the State of Kuwait. It uses the IATA designator KU, the ICAO code KAC and AWB prefix 229, and the airline is an IATA member. Decree-law 77/2026 converted Kuwait Airways into a wholly state-owned shareholding company; the Kuwait Investment Authority now exercises the powers of the general assembly and appointed a new board of directors on 6 September 2026. The cargo division operates no freighter aircraft of its own. In its cargo section the carrier lists only passenger types with their lower-deck capacities - Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A330 and Airbus A320 - so shipments travel as belly cargo on scheduled services. All flights are operated by Kuwait Airways Corporation itself. The hub is Kuwait International Airport (KWI). The export and import cargo facility sits directly beside passenger Terminal 4, opened in 2018, and runs around the clock, including public holidays. Equipment includes forklifts, high loaders, X-ray machines, weighing scales and ramp vehicles. Storage covers large cold rooms, ventilated shaded areas and separate rooms for valuables, dangerous goods and radioactive material. Products comprise general cargo, perishables, dangerous goods handled to IATA rules, live animals, temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals and a courier and CBV service. Kuwait Airways states that it accepts electronic air waybills (e-AWB); agents wishing to use it contact the cargo headquarters in Kuwait. Two points matter for forwarders. First, the carrier runs its own shipment tracking on its website, querying prefix and AWB number separately. Second, cargo sales outside Kuwait are handled largely through general sales agents, among others in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, as well as at numerous stations in Asia, the Middle East and Australia. Enquiries therefore normally go to the responsible GSA rather than to the airline directly.
