Cargojet

Cargojet Airways Ltd., based in Mississauga, Ontario, is Canada's largest carrier specialising in overnight air freight. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cargojet Inc., listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker CJT, and trades under the Cargojet brand. The company traces back to Canada 3000 Cargo Inc., founded in August 2001, which was fully acquired and renamed Cargojet in 2002. Cargojet operates its own all-cargo aircraft exclusively and combines three business models: its domestic overnight network, dedicated aircraft on an ACMI basis, and ad hoc charters. As at 30 June 2026 the fleet comprised 41 aircraft: 16 Boeing 757-200F, 2 Boeing 767-200F and 23 Boeing 767-300F. All aircraft are maintained under a Transport Canada approved maintenance organisation. The hub is John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) southwest of Toronto, where Cargojet owns its hangars and runs its central sorting and transfer network. From there the company serves 16 major Canadian cities every business night and, by its own account, moves more than 25,000,000 pounds of cargo weekly for over 400 customers; around 75 per cent of domestic volumes are under long-term contract. Internationally, Cargojet flies a scheduled route between Newark (EWR) and Hamilton, Bermuda (BDA), and since October 2025 a service linking Canadian hubs with the cargo airport of Liège (LGG). Further routes serve Mexico as well as Central and South America. For forwarders the relevant identifiers are W8 (IATA), CJT (ICAO) and AWB prefix 489. Cargojet is a full IATA member and IOSA registered, with registration valid until 19 October 2027. Long-standing contract customers include Amazon Canada, DHL and the Canada Post Group of Companies with Purolator.
