Allied Air Limited is a Nigerian cargo airline based at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos (IATA: LOS). Captain Valentine Tongo founded the company in 1998 and still runs it as Managing Director and CEO, holding the principal shareholding. The airline does not belong to an airline group. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) recognises Allied Air as a national flag carrier, and on several African routes it is the designated cargo airline under bilateral air services agreements. In 2016 it became the first cargo airline in Africa to pass the IOSA audit and was subsequently admitted as a member of IATA. Allied Air operates its own freighters only and offers no belly capacity. On its website the company lists three Boeing 737-400F with a payload in excess of 20,000 kilograms and ten main-deck pallet positions. The industry database ch-aviation, by contrast, recorded two Boeing 737-400(SF) and one Boeing 737-800(SF) as of 4 February 2025. This discrepancy has not been resolved; forwarders should confirm available capacity directly with the airline. The hub is Lagos, where Allied Air runs its own transit cargo shed. According to the airline, weekly departures from Lagos comprise six rotations to Abuja, five each to Libreville, Douala and Port Harcourt, and three each to Nairobi and Liege. Accra and Malabo are further destinations in the network. Regular customers include DHL, the Central Bank of Nigeria, UNICEF, UNOPS and UNDP. For forwarders the relevant identifiers are the IATA designator 4W, the ICAO designator AJK and the AWB prefix 574. Allied Air does not offer its own online shipment tracking; status enquiries go through the operations department in Lagos, which is staffed around the clock. Outside Nigeria the company maintains offices in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels and works with sales agents worldwide.
