Unlike a physical goods receipt—which documents actual delivery and requires a paper or scanned confirmation—a virtual goods receipt is a system posting in an ERP or warehouse management system triggered by electronic data such as EDI advance shipping notices, tracking milestones, or supplier confirmations, before the goods physically arrive.
