Unlike conventional supplier assessment, which covers only the first tier, Supplier Cascade Analysis maps the full multi-tiered supply network: direct suppliers (Tier 1), their own suppliers (Tier 2), and further upstream layers. The goal is to surface hidden risk concentrations, bottlenecks, and compliance gaps that are invisible from a flat, single-tier perspective. Many disruptions—raw material shortages, quality failures, sanctions violations—originate not with the direct supplier but several layers deeper. This makes cascade analysis a core tool in supply chain risk management, due-diligence processes, and compliance with supply chain due-diligence legislation.
