House Bill of Lading

A document issued by a non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) or freight forwarder to the shipper. It acknowledges receipt of cargo, sets out the terms and conditions of carriage, and serves as a contract of carriage, goods receipt, and title document. It is distinct from the master bill of lading issued by the actual carrier.
