A freighter rotation is the recurring, scheduled circuit of a cargo aircraft across several stations, ending back at the point of origin so the cycle can start again. Intermediate stops serve to load additional cargo, refuel or change crew, and capacity is released or taken up at each station. What matters for shippers is that published incremental capacity â up to 50 tonnes a day in this example â applies to the rotation as a whole, not to each individual sector. A rotation starting in Shanghai therefore creates no direct service out of other gateways. It differs from a charter flight, which is operated once and on demand.
