Freight bill auditing is the systematic process of reviewing and verifying freight invoices and related billing data to ensure that all transportation charges are accurate, in accordance with contracted rates, and free from errors or overcharges. This includes reconciling invoice line items with shipping documents such as bills of lading and carrier contracts, and identifying and recovering any overpayments.
