When a company intends to export goods classified as controlled or sensitive, the export control system comes into play: a framework of laws, licensing requirements, and IT-supported screening processes designed to prevent unauthorized shipments. The system classifies goods against export control lists, screens recipients against sanctions and embargo lists, and verifies end-use and end-users. Dual-use goods—items with both civilian and potential military applications—receive particular scrutiny. Export licenses are managed centrally and all transactions are logged for audit purposes. For freight forwarders and exporters alike, full compliance is both a legal obligation and a matter of liability.
